The teacher companion to Video Game Design Foundations B — Open Curriculum Edition, the second semester of a full-year CTE course in Arts, Media and Entertainment, pathway D (Game Design and Integration), approved by UC as area G under The VR School’s records H5HZ6M and J5QTDP. This edition delivers the approved units on open sources and the free Godot 4 engine instead of the commercial textbook the records list.
Module 1 covers the semester as a whole: how it meets the second record, the CTE standards and A-G; teaching playtesting, accessibility and monetization responsibly; pacing the semester around the capstone; and publishing, privacy, access and integrity. Modules 2-5 take one student unit each: a briefing on what students produce and the misconceptions that arrive every year, a facilitation module for the critique lab and the production workshop, and a scoring module with synthetic student work at three levels and the feedback that moves each.
The semester ends with a public showcase. Plan it from the first week: guests, permissions and a publishing route all take time to arrange.
