Teaching Artificial Intelligence Design and Development B — Delivery Guide & Professional Development
The teacher companion to Artificial Intelligence Design and Development B — Case Studies, Prototypes, Patents and Capstone (California), the second semester of a full-year interdisciplinary arts course for grade 12 rebuilt on open sources from The VR School’s approved UC record P9M8JW. It is taught against the California Arts Standards for Media Arts, mostly at the Accomplished and Advanced levels, and the CCSS literacy standards for science and technical subjects.
Module 1 covers the semester as a whole: how it completes the record’s units on case studies, engineering design and patents, and the capstone; teaching from evidence, including checking case facts every year, computing every number and handling the mental health chatbot lesson safely; studio and prototyping safety and the limits of the patent exercise; and pacing the capstone, student privacy and access. Modules 2-5 take one student unit each: a briefing, a facilitation lesson for the critique lab and the production workshop, and a scoring lesson with synthetic student work at three bands, commentary and the one note that moves each piece.
Every number in the exemplars was recomputed from the student lessons, and the exemplars include the calculation errors students actually make.
