Spanish 2B — Memories, Well-Being and Community is the second semester of second-level Spanish (UC A-G area E). It is built on the California World Languages Standards (2019) and targets ACTFL Intermediate Low.
Four units: Cuando éramos niños (the imperfect and the preterite in contrast), La salud y el bienestar (direct and indirect object pronouns), Nuestro medio ambiente (commands and comparisons) and Comunidad y futuro (an introduction to the present subjunctive with wishes and emotions). Each unit ends in a three-mode Integrated Performance Assessment.
Instruction is mostly in Spanish, with English glosses for grammar terms. The teaching baseline is Mexican and Central American Spanish as spoken in California, and other varieties are named and accepted. Heritage speakers have an extension path in every unit, and no student is penalized for their dialect.
