The teacher companion to Spanish 2A — Routines, Celebrations and Journeys (California), the first semester of second-level Spanish built on the California World Languages Standards (2019) for UC A-G area E. The course targets ACTFL Novice High to Intermediate Low and moves from a Spanish 1 review through reflexive verbs to the full preterite.
Review notice: every Spanish string in the student course and in this guide was machine-authored by SLS and carries the status pending native-speaker review. A native or heritage speaker of Spanish must review the course before students use it. Module 1 explains what that review covers and how to record it.
Module 1 covers the semester as a whole: how the course meets the standards and A-G, staying in the target language and teaching for proficiency, pacing and what to cut, and access, heritage speakers, tools and integrity. Modules 2-5 take one student unit each: a briefing on what students produce and the errors that arrive every year, a facilitation module for the conversation lab and the presentational workshop, and a scoring module for the Integrated Performance Assessment with synthetic student work at three bands.
