The teacher companion to English 11B — Land, Citizenship and the Modern American Story, the second semester of the charter curriculum’s English 3 (American literature and rhetoric), built on the California CCSS for grades 11-12 and designed for UC A-G area B. It is a separate course from the student course, so you can work through it before a roster exists.
Module 1 covers the semester as a whole: how 11B completes the year’s standards, teaching California’s land history, race and citizenship law with accuracy and care, pacing two novels and a research capstone, and research integrity. Modules 2-5 take one student unit each: a briefing on what students produce and the misreadings that arrive every year, a facilitation lesson for the seminar or performance lab and the writing workshop, and a scoring lesson with synthetic student work at three bands, commentary, and the one note that moves each piece.
