The teacher companion to Algebra 2 B (California), the second semester of a full-year, college-preparatory Algebra II course aligned to the CA CCSS for Mathematics and submitted with Algebra 2 A as UC A-G area C.
Module 1 covers the semester as a whole: how it completes the standards and the area C case; teaching modeling with real California data (census counts and Department of Finance estimates, the Golden Gate Bridge, NOAA tide records, published surveys), alongside productive struggle and discourse norms; pacing and what to cut, including the (+) standards; and tools, access, research ethics for the student experiment, and integrity. Modules 2-5 take one student unit each: a briefing on what students produce and the misconceptions that arrive every year, a facilitation module for the discourse lab and the modeling workshop, and a scoring module with synthetic student work at three bands, the errors to look for, and the feedback that moves each.
Every number in the exemplars has been recomputed and matches the student lessons. Do the scoring modules with a colleague; calibration is where consistent grading comes from.
