The teacher companion to Statistics A — Exploring Data, Study Design and Probability (California), the first semester of a full-year statistics course for grades 11-12 with Algebra 2 as the prerequisite. It is built on the CA CCSS Statistics and Probability standards (including the (+) standards) and California’s Probability and Statistics standards PS.1-PS.19.
Module 1 covers the semester as a whole: the case for UC A-G area C and the fallback to area G, teaching with real federal data and its caveats, simulation-first inference and statistical discourse norms, and pacing, tools, access and the optional certification links. Modules 2-5 take one student unit each. Each has a briefing on what students produce and the misreadings that arrive every year, a facilitation lesson for the discourse lab and the modeling and reporting workshop, and a scoring lesson with synthetic investigation reports at three bands, the statistical errors they contain, and the one piece of feedback that moves each.
Every number in the exemplars was recomputed from the same NOAA, CDC and simulation data the student lessons use, so you can score them against the lesson you just taught.
