The teacher companion to Economics — Principles of Economics (California), the one-semester grade 12 course built on the California History-Social Science Content Standards for Principles of Economics (12.1-12.6), the grades 9-12 Historical and Social Sciences Analysis Skills, and the CCSS literacy standards for history/social studies. It is designed for UC A-G area G as a social science elective.
Module 1 covers the course as a whole: how it meets the standards and A-G, teaching with live official data, keeping positive and normative claims apart, and teaching the graphs and models without losing students who are anxious about mathematics. Modules 2-5 take one student unit each: a briefing on what students produce and where the misconceptions are, a facilitation module for the unit’s lab and deliberation, and a scoring module with synthetic student work at different bands and the feedback that moves each.
