The teacher companion to Algebra 1A — Data, Linear Equations and Systems (California), the first semester of a full-year UC A-G area C Algebra I course built on the CA CCSS for Mathematics and the Standards for Mathematical Practice.
Module 1 covers the semester as a whole: how the course meets the standards and the A-G area C criteria, productive struggle and discourse norms, supporting ninth graders who arrive with gaps in fractions, negatives and proportional reasoning without lowering rigor, pacing and what to cut, and tools and access. Modules 2-5 take one student unit each: a briefing on what students produce and the misconceptions that arrive every year, a facilitation module for the discourse lab and the modeling workshop, and a scoring module with synthetic student work at three bands, the errors it contains and the one piece of feedback that moves each.
Every number in the exemplars matches the worked examples in the student lessons, so you can score them against the lesson you just taught.
