Algebra 2 A is the first semester of a full-year, college-preparatory Algebra II course aligned to the California Common Core State Standards for Mathematics and the Standards for Mathematical Practice (UC A-G area C).
Four units: Sequences and Functions, Polynomials, Rational Functions and Equations, and Complex Numbers and Rational Exponents. Students derive the geometric series formula and model loans and savings, fit polynomials to a year of California reservoir data, model the blending of water supplies to meet a California drinking water standard, and test Kepler’s third law against NASA data before computing the geostationary orbit.
