The teacher companion to English 10A — Justice, Conscience and the Law, the first semester of the charter curriculum’s English 2, built on the California CCSS for grades 9-10 and designed for UC A-G area B. It is a separate course from the student course, so you can work through it before a roster exists.
Module 1 covers the semester as a whole: what English 10 asks beyond English 9 when both sit in the same standards band, teaching Antigone and Frankenstein as ethical questions without moralising, pacing the semester toward the research paper, and research integrity when every student has access to AI tools. Modules 2-5 take one student unit each: a briefing on what students produce and the misreadings that arrive every year, a facilitation module for the seminar or lab and the writing workshop, and a scoring module with synthetic student work at different bands, what a scorer sees in each, and the feedback that moves it.
