The teacher companion to Geometry A — Transformations, Congruence, Similarity and Trigonometry (California), the first semester of a full-year, college-preparatory Geometry course aligned to the California Common Core State Standards for Mathematics and the Standards for Mathematical Practice.
Module 1 covers the semester as a whole: how the course meets the standards and the UC A-G area C expectations, how to teach proof so that students move from “it looks true” to justification in three formats, discourse norms and productive struggle, pacing and what to cut, and tools, access and integrity. Modules 2-5 take one student unit each: a briefing on what students produce and the misconceptions that arrive every year, a facilitation lesson for the discourse lab and modeling workshop, and a scoring lesson with synthetic student work at three levels and the feedback that moves each.
